Manchester United have started their hunt for a striker well during the opening stages of the summer transfer window with the club confirming the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on a 5 year deal with the transfer worth a fee of £62.5 million.

However, United are reported to be looking to bring another striker to the club before their busy pre-season schedule in preparation for the 2025-26 season gets underway in early July.

The Red Devils have been linked with many names including Tammy Abraham, Bryan Mbuemo and Liam Delap.

But, with news from Fabrizio Romano today, United look to have lost out on the signing of Liam Delap who is reported to be on his way to Chelsea after completing his medical in a deal worth £30 million.

Delap comes off the back of a successful season with relegated Premier League side Ipswich Town with the striker scoring on 12 occasions during the season whilst also contributing 2 assists. These efforts helped the Tractor Boys finish 18th in the English top tier.

With a clear goal scoring pedigree, it is clear to see why many Premier League clubs targeted Delap as a potential signing this summer. However, with Chelsea looking to have won the battle for the Englishman, United will have to look towards their other striker options.

Who Are Manchester United’s Other Options?

Although United may have lost out on the signing of Delap, the Red Devils will be aiming to make one of their other signings happen before pre-season kicks in.

The one that looks the most likely to happen is Bryan Mbuemo who was recently confirmed to have picked United over other Premier League options such as Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. The winger would bring goal scoring status, experience and potential with him to the club.

Other options include Tammy Abraham and Goncalo Ramos.

Will United Sign Another Striker?

With Manchester United close to making the signing of Bryan Mbuemo happen and with the club targeting other players to fill the striker position, will United sign another striker before pre-season? The answer looks likely to be yes in this situations as United build a squad strong enough to compete for European spots next season.
