Premier League winger Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly set to snub Arsenal in favour of joining Manchester United. The current Brentford player, 25, has also been linked with Tottenham and Newcastle. However, he has apparently decided to head up to the north west and link up with the Red Devils. The attacker will be Utd's second big signing of the summer, following Matheus Cunha's move from Wolves.

Mbeumo has one year left on his contract with the Bees and the ace expected to leave this transfer window. He scored 20 goals this season - the fourth highest - and eight assists, catching the eye of some of the league's big clubs.

On top of this, he also played in all 38 league games this season, proving his worth on the fitness front. The Cameroon international is now set to open contract talks with Utd, according to The Athletic.

While Brentford have slapped a reported hefty £50m price tag on his head. Manager Thomas Frank - himself said to be in the running as the next Spurs manager - conceded that he might have to let the wonder winger go.

“If the right price — and that’s going to be expensive — is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to it," he said.

The Dane added: "I can definitely understand the interest in him. There should be interest in him.

"He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals. I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price..."

Mbeumo signed for Brentford from French team Troyes in 2020 when they were still in the Championship. He has since scored 70 goals in 242 appearances for the London team.

If he does join Utd, it will be a much needed boost for the 13-time Premier League champions. Not one of their players managed a double-figure scoring tally in the league this season, with Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo scoring only eight goals each.

Utd are also reportedly considering a swoop for former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Old Trafford bosses are scrambling to find an alternative after missing out on Chelsea-bound Liam Delap - their top striker target this summer.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal paid around £50m to sign Mitrovic, 31, from Fulham in 2023. He ended the season with 19 goals in just 23 appearances, boasting a better goals-per-game ratio than Karim Benzema, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ivan Toney.
