FOXBOROUGH — As part of [David Andrews’](https://www.masslive.com/patriots/2025/06/longtime-patriots-captain-david-andrews-retires-in-heartfelt-tear-filled-ceremony.html) retirement ceremony, the [Patriots](https://www.masslive.com/patriots/) received video messages from quite a few former teammates.
The nine-minute montage included some high-profile Patriots — Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Devin McCourty etc. — and other teammates that Andrews was close with, like A.J. Derby and Jarrett Stidham.
The most famous of New England’s former players, Tom Brady, sent a heartfelt message Andrews’ way. The two won a pair of Super Bowls together near the end of Brady’s run in Foxborough and the quarterback spoke glowingly of what Andrews meant to those teams.
“David, congratulations my man. Welcome to the other side,” Brady said. “You couldn’t have had a better career. You were not only a great teammate, but you were a champion. And playing that center position for our team all those years. As you know, the heart and soul of any great team is the offensive line, and you were the leader. You were right in the middle.
“I loved every minute with you,” Brady added. “I loved being your quarterback. I’m with you every step of the way. You deserve this day. Congratulations.”
