Manchester United have received the green light to commence talks with Brentford over a move for Bryan Mbeumo after the player decided he wants to move to Old Trafford.
After a dreadful campaign last term, it was obvious that Manchester United needed to strengthen their forward line and they have acted quickly in the transfer market.
On day one of the window, it was announced that Matheus Cunha would be joining the club on a five-year contract, with the Brazilian set to play in the left side of Ruben Amorim’s attack.
However, the Reds need more additions and Bryan Mbeumo has been one of the main targets mentioned by reporters in recent weeks.
The Brentford star scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season and Thomas Frank has suggested that he can leave the club for the right price.
Mbeumo wants United move
David Ornstein has revealed that Mbeumo has decided that he wants to join United this summer, despite receiving interest from Newcastle and Arsenal.
Mbeumo currently has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium but the Bees also have the option to extend that by another year.
It was explained that the Reds are now set to open talks with Brentford, who will likely be demanding a hefty fee for their star man.
While Ornstein’s report did not specify the fee expected for the player, the latest information from TeamTalk have revealed that Mbeumo would cost around £60 million.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
