Much like in 1989 when FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, passed the rule that NBA players were eligible to compete at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, we saw the formation of the 'Dream Team' - arguably the greatest basketball team every assembled - notably including Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Scotty Pippen and Magic Johnson.

And with the news coming out of the NFL's annual Spring League Meeting, shock waves have been sent all across football, with fans across the country starting to shape their perfect ten to lead the USA to glory.
There is a slight stipulation with the team building though. Each nation attending the games will only be allowed to have a maximum of one player from each NFL team.
So who truly deserves the honour of championing red, white and blue?
The boring answer is that it'll be down to USA Football, whether it's through a combine, similar to what college prospects face every year when they declare for the annual NFL draft, or a tryout of some kind. Either way, the nation's governing body of football has got to narrow its squad down to ten superstars.
But to keep this article interesting, we'll focus purely on assembling a team that would give the USA the best chance at claiming gold in 2028.
QB - Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens
Jackson is the league's most dynamic two-way threat, so naturally, he'd be perfect for flag football. He possesses an explosive arm to make those quick passes, but if his options downfield dry up, which'll be unlikely, then he can take off himself.
WR - Justin Jefferson - Minnesota Vikings

Jefferson described representing the USA as 'a dream' in a recent interview at the league's spring meeting. He's also a global flag football ambassador, so what better way to promote the sport to a global audience. Aside from being selected for a stronger marketing campaign, Justin is the league's best receiver and the first name on this list in my eyes.
WR - Ladd McConkey - Los Angeles Chargers
With it being non-contact, you want players in the squad who can make a man miss, and Ladd brings the flair and shifty feet, which could earn a crucial extra couple of yards on a play.
WR - Tyreek Hill - Miami Dolphins
The speed demon from Miami brings an intangible that makes him a cut above the rest, similar to Ladd, Hill's elite level speed is a necessity to move those chains.
RB - Ashton Jeanty - Las Vegas Raiders
Although just a rookie, Jeanty is elusive as they come in the league; his ability to change direction to avoid his tag getting pulled will make him a worthy selection. To pair with his agility, his size at 5'9"makes it that little bit trickier to snag his tag.
WR/CB - Travis Hunter - Jacksonville Jaguars

Hunter offers the versatility on offence and defence, making him a valuable role player to this side, not to mention he's expectional at making a big play when it matters.
CB - Patrick Surtain II - Denver Broncos

Another non-negotiable pick. PS2 is the league's best cornerback, who sticks to his receivers like glue and will make light work of any wide-out who lines up opposite him.
CB - Trent McDuffie - Kansas City Chiefs
Three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes said in Chiefs OTAs: 'I'll leave that to the young guys.' Making McDuffie the most suitable Chiefs player to go to the Olympics, in three years' time he'll still be right up the list as one of the league's best in his position.
CB - Derek Stingley Jr. - Houston Texans
Similarly to McDuffie, Stingley Jr. is an up-and-coming superstar at his position and will finish off a quartet of defensive backs who'll be tough to score on.
OLB - Micah Parsons - Dallas Cowboys

'After 2027 Ima take a break from football to prepare for the Olympics!' said Parsons on Twitter, and he'll provide the size and speed to rush the passer once he's permitted.
