Manchester United have kicked off their summer rebuild with a big money deal for Matheus Cunha.
On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United confirmed the arrival of Matheus Cunha in a £62.5 million deal from Wolves.
The 26-year-old Brazilian is expected to sign a five-year deal with United and become a key figure in Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.
Cunha is set to earn £200,000 per week at United and reports claim he will wear the No.10 shirt previously worn by Marcus Rashford.
Cunha will add firepower and creativity to United’s squad, and his injury record suggests he will be a reliable figure for Amorim.

Matheus Cunha’s impressive injury record
In recent years, United have played more matches than any European side which has led to some serious injury problems.
However, United’s full focus in 2025/26 will be on the Premier League as defeat in the Europa League final means the Red Devils failed to qualify.
In 2024/25, Matheus Cunha made 36 appearances across all competitions for Wolves, and the only Premier League matches missed were due to suspension.

While there may be some concerns about Cunha’s attitude and discipline, there will be none about his injury record.
United’s newest arrival did not suffer a single injury last season, and he only missed seven games in Wolves’ 2023/24 campaign due to a hamstring injury.

Premier League focus will suit Matheus Cunha at Man United
Despite reaching a European final in his first season as Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim wants to win the Premier League and views it as the most important competition to succeed in.
So far, Amorim has struggled to pick up results in the Premier League, but next season there will be more time for Amorim to train players at Carrington between matches with United mostly playing just once per week.

Cunha has become a star in the Premier League and he arrives at Old Trafford with over two years of experience in English football.
As Ineos’ most expensive signing so far, Cunha can expect to be a regular starter in Amorim’s side and his focus will be on improving United’s league finishing position after a disappointing 15th this season.
