Man United will allow Bruno Fernandes to depart if he wants to make the move to Saudi giants Al-Hilal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils face a huge decision over their captain’s future with big money on offer if he is to leave the club.

Fernandes, 30, has emerged as Al-Hilal’s principal target after Man United failed to secure European qualification for the 2025-26 campaign.

Sources say United will be willing to facilitate the move if the player himself decides it would be for the best – but will not push him out of the club.

Man United could bank £100m for Fernandes

The Red Devils’ financial situation will benefit greatly if they can bank a windfall of £100million on a player turning 31 later this year – but he is yet to make a final decision.

United are struggling to comply with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) after years of poor transfer spending and huge wage costs.

Fernandes is the most valuable player at Old Trafford and is among the club’s highest earners – but is also the top performer.

Fernandes’ Man United record (all competitions, 2020 – present)

He hit 19 goals and notched 20 assists in 57 games in the 2024-25 campaign but couldn’t prevent United finishing 15th and losing in the Europa League final.

The former Sporting CP star has played 290 total games since joining Man United in 2020 and has won the FA Cup and League Cup with the fallen giants.

Fernandes’ contract at Old Trafford is set to run until June 2027 after penning his most recent extension in August 2024.

Man United and Liverpool in Dibling race

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (2 June) that Liverpool and Man United are among the Premier League clubs monitoring the situation of Southampton sensation Tyler Dibling.

Tottenham also held a strong interest in the winger and submitted bids in January but sources say it is now an “open race” for the England Under-21 international’s signature.

Dibling is effectively under contract at Southampton until June 2027 after coming through the club’s academy system.
