Manchester United’s transfer window is getting hot before it even begins officially, with Matheus Cunha’s transfer followed by developments around Bryan Mbeumo.
Matheus Cunha’s transfer has already been announced, with only some formal steps yet to be taken, while Enzo Kana-Biyik will arrive in the summer too.
Therefore, the club is moving quickly in the market with the latest development that Bryan Mbeumo wants to join Man Utd.
In doing that, he will have already impressed Ruben Amorim in a way that Liam Delap did not. The hope is that Viktor Gyokeres will follow in Mbeumo’s footsteps.

Difference between Bryan Mbeumo and Liam Delap
Delap’s rejection of Man Utd would have come as a blow to the club since he was a budget option to add a body to the striker position.
However, Delap chose to join Chelsea, probably swayed by the Champions League, something which clearly wasn’t a factor for Mbeumo.
The Brentford attacker rejected approaches from Arsenal and Newcastle United to favour Old Trafford, and in doing so, he did the one thing Amorim asked of his transfer targets.
It wasn’t long ago that Amorim sent a message to Gyokeres and other targets that they shouldn’t come to United to play in a competition. They should come to play for the club.

Delap’s rejection went against Amorim’s message, while Mbeumo is the embodiment of the same.
United will now know how committed Mbeumo is to the project because he’s joining when everyone is doubting the project and it’s yet to get off the ground.

Viktor Gyokeres must trust Ruben Amorim and follow Mbeumo
Mbeumo is a coup for United because of the interest of other clubs and his situation is quite similar to the one Viktor Gyokeres finds himself in.
He’s also coming off a brilliant season and is the apple of the eye of various European elites.
However, his relationship with Amorim from Sporting days should be a big factor in trying to convince him to follow in Mbeumo’s footsteps instead of Delap’s.
United looked unlikely to sign Gyokeres earlier but things have developed since then. Arsenal have entered Sesko talks so a competitor for the Swedish striker has been removed.
Moreover, it is interesting to see how the noise around the striker’s future has calmed down, and the optimistic take will be that it’s because Amorim and Man Utd are trying to sell the project to him during this time.
If United manage to get Gyokeres to follow Mbeumo’s line of thinking, it would be the biggest coup of the transfer window.
