West Ham were offered Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho in a deal described as “affordable,” a source has told Claret & Hugh this morning.
It is also our understanding that the Chelsea loanee was open to the deal, and talks were held at the top level at West Ham.

There had been some rumours suggesting Manchester United were interested in West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus and offered Sancho as part of a swap deal.
However, we have been informed by a transfer source that this was not the case — but Sancho was indeed offered to Hammers bosses directly.
While Sancho would have been open to a move to the London Stadium if offered first-team football, it is our understanding that manager Graham Potter rejected the chance to sign the player.
C&H were informed: “Potter didn’t want Sancho. Talks were never more than preliminary because the manager said he was looking for a different type of player.”

Chelsea retain an obligation to buy the former Borussia Dortmund winger for £25m — or they can break the agreement for a fee of £5m this summer. The likelihood now is that he will remain to Chelsea with Manchester United holding little interest in retaining him.
