Liverpool boss Arne Slot flew to France last week for talks with Lyon star Rayan Cherki, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.
The Dutch tactician reportedly held conversations with the highly sought-after France U21 international, who was considered a potential alternative to Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz.
However, with a deal to sign Wirtz now advancing, Liverpool are unlikely to move for Cherki this summer, with the Germany international now considered their ‘top target’.
Cherki, instead, is now being eyed by Manchester City, who are believed to be ‘close’ to sealing a move for the 'future Ballon d'Or winner'.
