Hannah Hampton is currently the undisputed number one goalkeeper for Chelsea. With Zecira Musovic departing the club and Becky Spencer’s loan spell coming to an end, the Blues are reportedly in the market for a new shot-stopper. According to DeichStube, 23-year-old Swiss goalkeeper Livia Peng is on Chelsea’s radar.
Competition for Hannah Hampton
Peng, who currently plays for SV Werder Bremen, is under contract with the Bundesliga side until 2026. In a 2024 interview, she revealed her ambitions: “My big dream is to go to England someday. I would love to play for Chelsea FC, which has been my dream club since childhood.”
However, when asked what she would do if Chelsea approached her, she added: “Then nothing would happen, because on the one hand I still have a contract, and on the other hand I am overjoyed to play at Werder.”
Peng is considered a young and promising talent. She has made 41 Bundesliga appearances and featured in the DFB-Pokal final against Bayern Munich. If she were to move to Chelsea, she would likely serve as backup to Hampton but would also face competition from Femke Liefting once she recovers from injury.
Livia Peng on her future
Following the DFB-Pokal final, Peng expressed her appreciation for her current club and its supporters: “I love this club, the team, and the fans. I am looking forward to next season.”
She also praised the supporters’ dedication: “Unbelievable what the fans have done this season. They are there for every away game—so numerous and loud. They sang for 90 minutes. That’s fun, it’s motivating, that’s incredible.”
