Man Utd have been handed two major updates in the summer transfer window.
The United captain was offered the chance to triple his wages in Saudi Arabia, in a deal that would have earned him roughly £200 million over a three-year period. It was understood Al-Hilal were also prepared to offer United a £100 million transfer fee, though the club were always reluctant to sell their best player.
Fernandes was never going to be persuaded to move just for the money though, and wanted to make the decision that was best for himself and his family. He has a close relationship with new head coach Ruben Amorim and is still determined to bring the glory days back to the club.

The 30-year-old is set to remain at United this summer and will form a key part of their rebuild under Amorim. A deal has already been agreed to bring Matheus Cunha to the club and he could soon be joined by another Premier League star.
What Fernandes decision means for Mbeumo
Bryan Mbeumo could join Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United, rather than help to replace him. Ruben Amorim wants to add two attacking midfielders to his squad this summer and the Brentford star was identified as a top target alongside Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha.
The 25-year-old is viewed as an excellent fit for Amorim's style of play and his stock is high after an exceptional campaign that saw him net 20 goals and register eight assists. The United head coach has also prioritised the addition of Premier League proven players this summer as he looks to improve the overall fitness and athleticism of his first-team squad.
It is understood Mbeumo has decided he would prefer to move to Old Trafford this summer, despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur. The Cameroon international has not been put off by United's worst ever Premier League finish and would relish the opportunity to bring success back to the club, while the move would also significantly boost his profile.
A move for Mbeumo would likely cost in the same region of the £62.5 million release clause United will pay Wolves for Cunha, though just like that deal, there is a hope United can stagger the payments over several years to reduce the initial outlay this summer. United will still look to add a proven goalscorer to their attack this summer and are still hoping to sell Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony, while Alejandro Garnacho has also been told he is welcome to find a new club.
