Philippe Coutinho’s loan deal at Vasco da Gama expires at the end of this month and as things stand he has to return to Aston Villa.
The Brazilian club are determined to extend his stay and last week the 32-year-old said he isn’t worried about his renewal. Globo Esporte relay his comments and also state Vasco da Gama are optimistic even though the negotiations are difficult.
Coutinho’s contract at Aston Villa lasts until 2026 and the option of terminating the contract is reportedly on the table. If not, Vasco da Gama have to extend his loan stay and then sign him for free next year.
Bolavip Brasil have relayed comments from Vasco da Gama CEO Carlos Amodeo, and he talked about the Aston Villa owned player during a press conference on Monday.
Amodeo confirms there’s no issue between his side and the former Liverpool star, who has to sort it out with Aston Villa to extend his stay at Vasco da Gama beyond June 30th.
“The goal is to keep the player. There is no problem between him and Vasco. The point is to resolve the situation with Aston Villa so we can move forward,” he said.
The CEO adds Vasco da Gama manager Fernando Diniz is also in favour of the attacking midfielder continuing at the club.
“Coutinho is a player we want to count on for the rest of the season. We’re in contact with his staff awaiting his release,” Amodeo explained.
The Brazilian football seasons end in December.
