Manchester United are plotting a summer transfer for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who currently plays for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are both struggling. So, Utd boss Ruben Amorim is keen to add more bite to the attack.
The Red Devils were previously eyeing a deal for Liam Delap. But, the Ipswich Town star has agreed to join Chelsea. This forces Utd to explore other options.
Mitrovic earns a huge Β£405,000 a week in UAE. He could be permitted to leave because the Saudi club needs to sell foreign players to balance their squad. He has scored 68 goals in 79 appearances since his Β£50m transfer in 2023. But, he could be on the move again.
Mitrovic Could Offer Experience and Stability at Old Trafford
At 30, Mitrovic isnβt a long-term fix. But, he brings experience and a proven track record in English football with Fulham. Some fans may not be so keen on the idea. But, the Serbian could provide the power and leadership that Hojlund and Zirkzee lack.
The Red Devils had a frustrating and a weak season. They finished in the bottom half of the league and lost the Europa League final to Spurs. Amorim knows he will be under pressure to recruit reliable scorers if he is ever to turn things around.
The brute, physical strength that Mitrovic possesses, his aerial prowess and no-nonsense approach could be ideal as a short-term fix. While he may not be a glamorous signing, he could steady the ship. He could help bring the younger strikers on in their development.
