Manchester United in the mix to sign AS Roma star–Deal can take off at€40m

Andre Onana had a troubled 2024/25 season at Manchester United and this encouraged serious doubts regarding his future.

If the Cameroon international departs in the summer, the Red Devils will have to look for a new first-choice goalkeeper. Links with Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic have emerged in the past few weeks, but another goalkeeper in Serie A is also said to be on the radar at Old Trafford.

The player in question is AS Roma’s Mile Svilar. Il Messaggero today, as relayed by SiamoLaRoma, have reported that Manchester United and Bayern Munich are considering the Serbian as he is yet to agree terms over a new deal at the Italian side.

ForzaRoma add more detail to the scenario and reveal Svilar wants a wage of €4m per season in his new deal. While that is a legitimate request, Roma are taking their time on making a final decision.

Manchester United can take advantage of that and the report believes that the Giallorossi would start negotiations at around €40m, and their objective is to earn €50m from the sale.

No clubs have come forward for the ex-Benfica player so far but his situation is certainly getting complex. Some days ago, Corriere dello Sport claimed that talks over a renewal are stalling and Roma’s issues around Financial Fair Play can also force them into a potential sale.

Since Svilar arrived at the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer during Jose Mourinho’s tenure, the Roman club will also be able to make a significant capital profit from his sale.

The 25-year-old will be best known at Manchester United for his poor performance against them whilst playing for Benfica earlier in his career, but he’s come a long way since then and is considered one of the best in Serie A.
