Everton are set to face a battle to keep Jarrad Branthwaite on Merseyside this summer.

The Toffees defender has developed excellently at Goodison Park, and interest has been growing considerably over the past 18 months.

As David Moyes looks to push his side further up the Premier League table, though, keeping hold of a key player will be key heading to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, with his contract running out in 2027, Tottenham are hoping they can poach him away.

Everton make Branthwaite stance clear amid Tottenham interest

Although Moyes has his sights set on progression under The Friedkin Group, the Toffees will certainly be wary about PSR regulations.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Therefore, with only two years left on his contract, it’s not too surprising that other sides are considering the possibility of tempting Branthwaite away.

Interest in the Blues defender is nothing new, but Everton have made their stance clear ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail has reported in its print edition (3 June, page 67) that the Toffees are insistent that the 22-year-old is not for sale, sharing that with suitors already.

Nevertheless, it states that Tottenham are still expected to test the waters over a potential transfer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are still weighing up an approach.

Moyes wants his defender to stay put, though, and after his impressive return this season, his preference may count for more than usual.

Everton to stand firm over Branthwaite

Branthwaite is not going into the final year of his contract at Everton, so it does take the pressure of a sale off significantly.

Understandably, the Toffees are eager to keep hold of the young defender, who has been a star over the past couple of seasons.

A reliable figure at the back of the pitch, Moyes is right to make his preference of keeping such players known, alongside Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski.

Branthwaite has solid for Everton.

However, with Tottenham preparing for Champions League football next term, it’s also not a shock that they are still looking to test the waters.

Everton could end up striking a deal, but the ball is certainly in their court and therefore, TFG should only be willing to agree to anything if the price is right.

Branthwaite has always shown a good attitude before, and it would be unlikely to see him throw his toys out of the pram this summer.

A nervous couple of months are ahead.
