Just in: David Ornstein drops huge Jadon Sancho update on Tuesday morning

Chelsea have decided not to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis this summer and he will return to Manchester United, according to David Ornstein.

The former England international joined the Blues on a season-long loan deal last summer, with an obligation to make the move permanent for £25m if the club finished above 15th place in the Premier League.

But it was later revealed that there was a break-clause in that agreement with Man Utd, and Chelsea could back out of the obligation to buy if they paid a £5m penalty fee, which they have now decided to do after talks with the winger.

The 25-year-old had a solid campaign at Stamford Bridge as he helped the club qualify for the Champions League while they also won the Europa Conference League, with Sancho scoring in the final.

Chelsea had been keen on signing Sancho permanently, but they held talks with the forward over personal terms to fit him into their wage structure. Sancho currently earns around £250,000-a-week at Manchester United, but Chelsea wanted him to earn less while being on a long-term contract to fit into their current way of doing things.

It's now expected that Sancho will seek another move away from Man Utd this summer, with options in England and across Europe set to be explored.

It has been reported by GMS senior correspondent Ben Jacobs that there is a possibility for Sancho to be reintegrated into the squad at Old Trafford, with his issues coming with former manager Erik Ten Hag rather than Ruben Amorim.

However, the expectation is that the winger will be sold as INEOS look to raise funds for a rebuild for the Portuguese manager's squad, with Sancho being allowed to leave last season meaning he wasn't in their long-term plans.
