Jadon Sancho will officially return to Manchester United this summer after Chelsea failed to reach an agreement on personal terms with the 25-year-old.
The ex-England international joined Chelsea on a season-long loan deal last summer and the move featured an obligation to buy clause worth a reported €30 million.
However, the Blues included an option to cancel this agreement and send him back to Man Utd if they opted to pay a €6m penalty fee.
After lengthy negotiations with Sancho’s representatives, Chelsea have now decided to pay this fee in order to avoid signing the Englishman on a permanent deal this summer.
That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein" href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6390124/2025/06/03/jadon-sancho-chelsea-transfer-clause/" target="_blank">The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who has revealed that an agreement over personal terms couldn’t be reached between Sancho and Chelsea.
As a result, he will return to Man Utd once his loan spell at Chelsea ends on 30 June. Sancho reportedly has suitors in England and abroad, and he is understood to be assessing his options before deciding his next destination.
