The Reds are entering a crucial week in their pursuit of the Bayer Leverkusen star, with the Premier League champions increasingly confident of securing a club-record transfer for the German playmaker

Liverpool have submitted their second improved offer for Wirtz, worth approximately €130 million (£109.4 million), which represents a significant increase from their initial bid that exceeded €100 million.

The proposal includes both guaranteed fees and performance-related add-ons, though the exact structure of these payments still needs to be ironed out.

Leverkusen remain firm on their €150 million valuation for the 22-year-old Germany international.

Despite the setback, it is believed both clubs remain optimistic that a deal can be reached in the coming days as negotiations continue.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker has specifically requested to wear the iconic number 10 shirt at Anfield, currently worn by World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister.

It remains to be seen if that request is granted, but unlikely due to the standing of the Argentine in this Liverpool squad.

The German midfielder wears the same number at Leverkusen.

Now German outlet BILD has confirmed that Wirtz has a deal agreed with Liverpool through until 2030 – making it a five-year contract on Merseyside:

“Leverkusen’s world star Florian Wirtz (22) has already reached an agreement with English champions Liverpool FC.”

“The Reds and the exceptional footballer have agreed on a contract until 2030.”

Despite the ongoing negotiations, Liverpool appear well-positioned to complete the transfer after receiving backing from their ownership group.

According to the same report, FSG CEO of Football Michael Edwards has already secured approval from the club’s Boston-based owners to meet Leverkusen’s full €150 million asking price.

It would then appear that the Anfield club is exhausting all avenues for negotiations with Leverkusen and could cave this week to their full demands.

The ‘transfer poker’ that those in Germany label this deal could be coming to an end finally.
