If Philadelphia Eagles fans had a nickel for every time general manager Howie Roseman made a great move, they would not have to work ever again.
Last week, Roseman ended the fan base's suffering over edge rusher Bryce Huff as the team finalized a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to send Huff there in exchange for a mid-round draft pick. The Eagles worked out a restructured deal with Huff, which resulted in the team adding $15 million in salary cap space in 2025, as they split the cost of Huff's contract with the 49ers.
That was the first part of the deal that made Eagles fans happy with Roseman's decision. Monday night revealed the second part that might be even better than the financial aspect of the move.
The Eagles' mid-round pick was revealed
CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones shared the full details of the trade on Monday night, after the deal was finalized, pending a physical. The 49ers still only acquired Huff in the agreement, but the Eagles will receive a 2026 fourth- or fifth-round pick.
Philadelphia will start with a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick as part of the deal. Depending on Huff's performance in the 2025 season, the Eagles could have that pick turned into a fourth-round pick.
The Eagles signed Huff to a three-year, $51 million contract last offseason as he was seen as the eventual replacement for Brandon Graham. That turned out to be the opposite as Huff struggled in Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's scheme, finishing with 13 tackles, four quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games.
Philadelphia's nightmare experience Huff was included with him missing five games due to injury and him not recording a stat in the postseason. He was a healthy scratch for the Super Bowl which should have been the first sign of the marriage crumbling.

Overall, the signing will be viewed as one of the worst in not only the Roseman era, but in franchise history. The Eagles were able to salvage the deal with a day-three pick in the NFL Draft, which has been a strength of Roseman's game in finding hidden gems late in the draft.
It's officially the final chapter of what has been a horrible experience for Huff and the Eagles. Now the franchise can finally move forward and develop its younger talent, such as Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr., to be the team's edge rushers entering the new season.
