Manchester United claims dismissed in Saudi Arabia – Haven’t even got a manager

[Al Riyadh](https://www.alriyadh.com/) newspaper is local to Al-Hilal and each day they have at least part of a page on the club. That covers match news, transfer claims and is generally similar to what would be found in Europe.

The big transfer claim around the club in recent weeks has been an apparent attempt to sign Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United, with the claims being pushed so much that at certain points it felt like all that was missing was an announcement.

Intriguingly, whilst all this was going on, the media close to Al-Hilal wasn’t taking part in a first hand basis. Sure, there were claims by people trying to forge a Twitter personality, yet the last time Bruno Fernandes was mentioned in the pages of Al Riyadh was May 13th. That was discussing the potential transfer but using sources from elsewhere to do so.

On Monday, it was reported in the UK that Aleksandar Mitrović could be a potential signing for Manchester United this summer. Those claims have made their way to Saudi, perhaps rather than returning there, and Al Riyadh explain, gently, why it doesn’t appear to be correct.

Al Riyadh state: _‘Al-Hilal administration has not yet taken a final position regarding the future of Mitrović, and the club will decide after the new coach is appointed, and his technical demands will be determined during the coming period, and the names of those coming and leaving the team will be determined then.’_

Saudi football legend Mohammad Al-Shalhoub is currently caretaker manager of Al-Hilal, and there’s efforts ongoing to find a permanent recruit. The words from Al Riyadh don’t only throw serious doubt on the Mitrović to Manchester United claims, but also on the drama surrounding Bruno Fernandes recently.

Indeed, there seems some annoyance from Al Riyadh that claims are being made when the club hasn’t concluded what it thinks itself.
