Liverpool make contact in ‘last few hours’ for attacker – May be Florian Wirtz insurance

Liverpool have been actively working to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz. Whilst there’s a lot of confidence they’ll get the deal done, it’s worth having an insurance policy in case Bayer stick to that €150m demand.

The player in question is AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Tuttomercatoweb report on Reds interest in the Portugal international.

TMW claim Liverpool have made contact for the winger in the ‘last few hours’ and the move has been described as an ‘important survey’ made by Arne Slot’s side.

The outlet also covers interest from Bayern Munich, with Al Nassr, Al Ittihad and Al Hilal having tried to delve deeper into the player’s situation.

Despite the mounting interest, Milan are not keen on letting the player depart in the summer and want to build a team around Leao, despite question marks about his consistency.

The report states that to have a chance of signing the 25-year-old, Liverpool will have to pay €130m. Only then would Milan be interested in holding discussions, with the winger’s current release clause said to be at around €170m.

Those are clearly fantasy figures and would surely be negotiable. Jorge Mendes is involved and he’s hardly going to let a major client miss out on a €100m move if it comes to it.
