Jack Grealish is keeping himself in top shape ahead of a potential transfer away from Manchester City this summer.

Grealish's Etihad Stadium career looks destined to come to an end with City boss Pep Guardiola shaking up his squad after a poor season by his side's lofty standards.

Former Aston Villa captain Grealish will be shown the exit door in all likelehood but there needs to be a realistic option on the table for the England winger.

Grealish has been linked with Newcastle United as well as a shock return to Villa and a switch abroad to Inter Milan.

Still under contract at City until the end of the 2026/27 season, what the future holds for the 29-year-old is hard to predict with any move likely to be a loan unless an agreeable transfer fee can be struck.

What that looks like is uncertain, with City likely to be keen on recouping a significant portion of their £100 million 2021 outlay on Grealish but also accepting that his recent form will not command a big fee.

Grealish started just seven Premier League matches this season and was brutally left on the bench for the 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace before missing out on a place in the squad entirely for the final-day must-win game against Fulham in the Premier League.

ChronicleLive has reported that Newcastle is thought to be Grealish's ideal landing spot this summer, though Eddie Howe's side have yet to signal an interest in him.

Grealish uploaded a picture of himself in the gym to the photo-sharing social media platform Instagram late on Monday night, showing his intent to remain fit for a potential transfer.

Any move could happen quickly, with City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak saying last week that his side's summer transfer business will be 'swift'.

"And I can tell you today, that, I would say, day one of the new season, we have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option," he said.

"And we'll go about our business, and it will be very clear, very swift.

"And our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup."
