Manchester United scored a measly 44 goals in the Premier League throughout the season, while Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo scored 35 goals between them in the topflight.
It's shameful that every player at Ruben Amorim's disposal scored just nine more goals.
The lack of firepower was the biggest problem in a chastening campaign at Old Trafford, and staff deserve credit for addressing the issue by being proactive in the summer transfer market.

Cunha should be a tremendous addition and that statement can be copied and pasted about Mbeumo, who is understood to have indicated his preference is to relocate to Manchester.
United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle have been linked with a deal for Mbeumo this summer, but the player has given encouragement that he would prefer a move to Old Trafford.
Thomas Frank has admitted Mbeumo will be available for the "right price" and £50million has been touted. Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the [Premier League](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/premier-league) this season and his overall body of work suggests he is worth that kind of fee.
Cunha and Mbeumo would make for a formidable attacking partnership in the No.10 roles, adding goals, assists, creativity, flair and verve to those important positions in Amorim's system.
Mbeumo has been one of the Premier League's most consistent performers in the last few years and there's a strong feeling there is still more improvement to be unlocked from him, which is an exciting prospect.
The Frenchman came through Troyes' academy before breaking into their first-team, and eventually sealed a move to Brentford in the summer of 2019 for a then-club record £5.8m.
Mbeumo joined Brentford in the Championship and helped steer them into the Premier League, but he continued to develop, just like Brentford since their promotion from the second tier.
Brentford have established themselves as a Premier League side and Mbeumo has played a huge role in that, which in turn has established him as one of the league's finest attackers.
Mbeumo and Brentford have been perfect for each other, although the player has now outgrown the Gtech Stadium. Frank has done a magnificent job at Brentford considering they are a selling club and Mbeumo is the next cab off the rank.
Brentford would like to keep Mbeumo and having the option of another year in his contract will help them during negotiations, as the 25-year-old is about to head into the final year of his deal.
Having the option of another 12 months in Mbeumo's contract means he essentially has two years left in London, which gives Brentford more bargaining power in transfer discussions.
If United complete a move for Mbeumo, their attack will go from being one of the worst in the Premier League to one of the best. Mbeumo and Cunha are proven quality and should combine brilliantly.
The icing on the cake will be the signing of a striker. Mbeumo and Cunha can both play down the middle, so signing a striker might fall down the agenda of summer priorities, but it would be a mistake not to sign a centre-forward.
United's attack was toothless this season and required a major makeover. Mbeumo and Cunha are an outstanding place to start and just a single piece of the jigsaw needs to be added.
