Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has shared a new message on social media amid rumours he has signed a new deal on Merseyside.
The 35-year-old was out of contract this month, but looks to have agreed to a new deal keeping him at Everton for at least another year.
David Moyes will be delighted that Idrissa Gana Gueye is set to renew his contract. Reports suggested Moyes made Gueye’s contract a “priority” and he has now seemingly got that deal over the line.
Everton want to sign a new midfielder this summer, and have already done so by completing Carlos Alcaraz’s permanent signing. However, Everton still look to be eyeing another midfielder, with Matt O’Riley of interest at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
When his future was still undecided, Everton fans were desperate to keep Gueye at the club, given his quality and commitment to the team.
It now looks like he will stay, and a recent social media post from the midfielder has sent fans into a frenzy.

Idrissa Gana Gueye thanks Everton fans after receiving award
Despite reaching the latter stages of his career, Gueye was one of Everton’s most relied-upon players this season, missing just one Premier League game.
Gueye was trusted by both Moyes and Sean Dyche, even if the latter was not able to get the best out of him.

Now, Gueye has taken to Instagram to thank fans for being voted as Everton’s Player of the Season.
The Senegal international said: “Thank you. Being named Player of the Season by my teammates and the fans means a lot to me.
I would like to thank you all Evertonians for voting for me. Everton has always been more than a club, it’s home. From my first spell to my return, this badge has been part of my journey, my battles, my pride.
Together, we’ve faced tough times, fought hard, and stood as one. This award reflects not just my efforts, but our shared fight.
This connection will always run deep. Once a blue, always a blue. UTT.
Fellow Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure commented on Gueye’s post, sending two clapping emojis and two blue hearts.
Unlike Gueye, Doucoure is leaving Everton at the end of his contract this month and has already played his final game for the Toffees.
Everton still face a contract stalemate with departing star
While it looks like Gueye will be staying on Merseyside, the same cannot be said for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The 28-year-old has endured a torrid season and is now in the final month of his contract. Everton News was exclusively told that talks between Everton and Calvert-Lewin are way off, and they expect the striker to leave the club at the end of the season.
Despite that, Moyes is still open to doing a deal with Calvert-Lewin before his contract expires, but with interest in England and abroad, he may have his sights set on other clubs.
Elsewhere, Michael Keane has not signed a new deal with Everton and will leave the club at the end of this month.
Moyes wants to improve four positions this summer, including centre-back and striker, so the pair are likely to fall further down the pecking order if they were to stay.
