After the member of the Pro football Hall of Fame, McGuire is the next best player in this group. Of all the players on the Browns roster, he might be the best positioned to breakout and become a star. McGuire was the best story of the 2024 season. In only his second year, he transformed himself into a fantastic run-stopping base end.
Coming out of Missouri, he projected to be an effective run defender, but he was one of the best in the league, ranking third according to PFF. It remains to be seen if he can repeat that lofty grade, but the investment in the defensive tackle position could help him sustain.
In addition, McGuire posted some promising numbers as a pass rusher. He recorded 29 pressures last year with a pass rush win rate of 11.8 percent. That number skyrocketed to 24.4 percent in true passing situations. That didn't yield much in terms of statistical production as of yet, but it might be an indication of what could be coming.
One element that might hold McGuire back is his raw speed. He can get off blocks, but he's just not that quick. As a result, unless he can develop a power rush the caliber of Jared Verse of the Los Angeles Rams, he needs to defeat blocks faster so he can more quickly get to the quarterback.
