New York Jets Flight Connections 06/03/25

Good morning Gang Green Nation! As the NFL offseason continues to creep in this petty pace from day to day, Jets writers continue to project things for the Jets that don’t seem to fit what the new Jets regime is trying to accomplish. Today we get suggestions the Jets might trade for Micah Parsons and the Jets should sign Amari Cooper.

These kinds of splashy moves seem to me the antithesis of the entire offseason approach taken by Aaron Glenn et al. There have been no big name signings, other than perhaps Justin Fields, if you think he qualifies. There have been no flashy trades, no big moves up to the top of the draft. Instead we’ve gotten a measured, meat and potatoes approach focused on getting younger, dropping older, expensive big name players, and beginning a multi-year build with draft picks and relatively young, mostly inexpensive free agents. This year seems like a clear out the dead wood, clean up the cap and figure out who should be the core group going forward kind of year.

I have zero inside information on this, but the kind of big name splashy moves Jets writers continue to project for the Jets this offseason seem pretty unlikely to me. My guess is the biggest moves left this offseason will probably entail signing some of the Jets’ homegrown talent to extensions.
