Crystal Palace are interested in Juventus centre-back Tiago Djaló to increase their options at centre-back, the News Shopper understands.

The 25-year-old spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Porto but made only 17 appearances in all competitions.

He did, however, feature regularly in the Europa League, making seven appearances before Porto were knocked out by Roma in the play-off round.

Palace have long-standing interest in Djaló, who has one cap for the Portuguese national team.

Oliver Glasner’s side explored a move for the defender toward the end of the winter transfer window, but a deal proved impractical, as it would have required Juventus to recall him from his loan spell at Porto.

The Eagles are keen to sign a centre-back this summer, regardless of whether England international Marc Guehi leaves the club.

Guehi, 24, is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and has yet to show a willingness to extend, which could force Palace to consider a sale rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Alongside Guehi, Chris Richards and Maxence Lacroix have been the regular starters in Palace’s back three.

However, depth remains an issue. Nathaniel Clyne and Jefferson Lerma – neither of whom are natural centre-backs – are regarded as backup options, alongside Chadi Riad, who missed most of last season due to an ACL injury.

Palace hope to add at least one centre-back to their ranks, which will rise to two if Guehi departs, and have drawn up a shortlist of potential loan and permanent targets, with Djaló among the options under consideration.
