Wolves fans are desperate to see the club enjoy a good summer transfer window – but one target will potentially now be very hard to sign.
Vitor Pereira did a fantastic job in 2024/25 and kept Wolves in the Premier League with relative ease in the end.
He guided Wolves to a 16th-placed finish and a final points haul of 42 points.
There is real optimism that Pereira can take Wolves to the next level now.
But the only way to do that is to ensure a productive summer, with big-name players leaving the club.
One of the biggest things Pereira did last season was to shore Wolves up defensively, with the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou an absolute masterstroke.
Wolves were recently linked with a move for Mario Gila, who’s enjoyed a great season with Lazio. It was also suggested Gila was open to a move to the Premier League.
But Pereira might now need to turn his attention elsewhere following a fresh development.

Wolves’ backline was generally pretty good in 2025.
Agbadou was a game-changer, but his supporting cast of Toti Gomes and Matt Doherty were also really solid.
While Doherty did brilliantly well, there is a feeling that he might be the one to lose his place if Wolves did try to sign a new centre-back.
But seemingly Wolves will now really struggle to land Gila, with AS reporting that Paris Saint-Germain are now in pole position to sign the Spaniard, in news that will surely please former Molineux midfielder Vitinha.
Of course, we have just seen PSG wipe the floor with Inter Milan in the Champions League final, and there is a strong argument that they are the best team in the world right now. The lure to join them must be strong.
Gila is their top choice for a new centre-back, and PSG have apparently already even tabled an offer.
Previously, Lazio have valued Gila at £34 million, with the player having shown an ‘extraordinary level’ in 2023/24 according to AS.

Gila surely out of reach for Wolves
Interestingly, Gila has had proposals from teams in England. But there has been no suggestion Wanderers have acted on their interest in the player.
But one would imagine there’s a good chance he now heads to the Parc des Princes off the back of that Champions League win.
By making that move, he’ll play for an incredible team and work under a fellow countryman in Luis Enrique.
Gila would be an amazing signing by Wolves. But it now seems that he’ll be practically impossible to sign, even if he’d play regularly at Molineux.
Perhaps Wolves could now turn to Koni De Winter, who is another defender from Serie A the club have apparently had eyes on.
He’d be a slightly cheaper option than Gila, but again there is heavy interest in the player and Wanderers would have their work cut out.
