Fabrizio Romano Confirms Chelsea Have Made“Approach”To Sign 30 Cap International

**Chelsea have made an initial “approach” for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.**

The Blues are in the market for a new number one and Romano [says](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1929847736750240225) the 29-year-old is “high” on their list of options.

Maignan is closing in on the final year of his contract with Milan, and there are no indications that he will sign an extension at this stage.

It appears as if Enzo Maresca’s side are looking to take advantage of the situation as they look to strengthen a key position.

Maignan would add much-needed experience

----------------------------------------

The keeper is currently France’s no.1, having been capped 30 times by his country. He has been first choice for Milan since joining from Lille in the summer of 2021.

Over the past four years with the Rossoneri, Maignan has won the Serie A title as well as the Italian Super Cup. The Frenchman also won the league with Lille prior to making the switch to Italy.

His experience would undoubtedly prove very valuable in a squad that is lacking leaders.

Chelsea are expected to sell more than one keeper

-------------------------------------------------

It is believed that Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge if satisfactory offers are received for the pair.

With Filip Jorgensen already at the club and Mike Penders having joined after his loan spell at Genk, there is more than enough cover to let both Sanchez and Petrovic leave.

Milan are not in the greatest bargaining position due to Maignan’s contract situation so it seems the Blues are confident that a deal can be agreed.

Maignan’s arrival is not guaranteed by any means but it’s clear that the club are aiming to bring in a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer.
