Feyenoord have been left in a state of ‘surprise’ by claims that Brentford are closing in on a deal for midfielder Antoni Milambo.
That’s according to Voetbal International, [relayed by Voetbal Primeur,](https://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuws/1302981/vi-spreekt-aanstaand-feyenoord-verkoop-tegen-hij-is-in-principe-niet-te-koop.html) who report that talk of a transfer being close are considered wide of the mark.
It’s been a month of backwards and forwards in terms of Milambo and Brentford, with reports often contradicting each other on the matter.
At first it appeared that Brentford were closing in on the youngster, with confidence all around that a deal would be done early this summer. Indeed, it was believed Milambo already had a personal agreement in place with the Bees following a trip to London to meet them.
All appeared to be going smoothy, but then the first cracks then started to appear, with various claims in the Netherlands insisting that matters were not so far advanced and, crucially, Feyenoord wouldn’t want to sell anyway.
Now Voetbal International have their say, reporting that talk of a personal agreement is ‘far from the truth’. All talk of such an agreement and an impending ‘million-dollar bid’ from Brentford is causing ‘surprise’ at Feyenoord according to the newspaper.
They don’t deny they’ve spoken to Brentford about the midfielder, but this was an ‘informal’ conversation and nothing more. They insist that if Brentford wanted to sign him, they could make a simple phone call. The suggestion there is that they haven’t and so aren’t particularly pushing hard right now. There are, according to Feyenoord, ‘many more clubs’ interested.
It seems, then, Thomas Frank and co need to either put up or shut up, with Feyenoord seemingly perplexed at what they’ve been reading, as their reality doesn’t match.
