Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has issued the perfect response to news that Bruno Fernandes has turned down an approach from Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League were said to have turned their attention to the Portuguese after failing in their efforts to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool.
It has been claimed that Al-Hilal, who boast the likes of Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic in their ranks, had tabled a lucrative financial package as they look to add reinforcements before their Club World Cup campaign, which begins on June 18 against Real Madrid. However, no contact had been made between both clubs but it is thought that the United captain rejected their proposal.
Fernandes' intention to remain in Europe poses as a big opportunity for United to bounce back from their turgid season, last time out.
Already some of the Portuguese's teammates have expressed their happiness to see the 30-year-old turn down the chance to move to Saudi.
Zirkzee posted to his story shortly after news broke surrounding Fernandes' future.
He captioned his Instagram story: "Mood," with a picture of the pair celebrating while the Holland international appears to be screaming toward Fernandes after the scored against Manchester City.
Ruben Amorim was forced to face questions regarding Fernandes' future after their win over Hong Kong in their second and final post-season friendly.
However, the former Sporting CP head coach expressed confidence that Fernandes would remain at Old Trafford despite mounting interest.
“I don’t think so," he said when asked whether the Portugal international would leave.
"I don’t know for sure, but nobody knows. But I don’t think so.
"He is seeing us changing some actions to change all the things and I think he wants to stay. "He is saying no to a lot of things.
"But he shows that he wants to win. "He is really hungry.
"He is really good. He needs to be in the best league in the world. “I am the manager, the coach, sometimes it is the decisions of the player.
"Of course I talk to him, I explain things and I just have that feeling. When you talk to someone you have that feeling if he wants to stay.
"Of course, in a lot of games he is frustrated. "He knows what we are doing.
"The feeling I get every time I speak with him is that he wants to continue for sure with Man United. You never know."
