Jadon Sancho Rejects Chelsea; Set to Return to Manchester United: Reports

Chelsea will lose Jadon Sancho on June 30 when his loan term expires at Stamford Bridge. The winger was unable to reach an agreement on personal terms with the Blues. They were contractually bound to purchase the player for £25 million, but have now opted to pay Manchester United £5 million to return him.

Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Manchester United in the summer. He played 42 games, netting five goals and providing ten assists. He also helped the Blues to fourth place in the Premier League, while scoring in their UEFA Conference League final triumph over Real Betis.

Manager Enzo Maresca had been aware of Sancho’s role, but revealed that a decision would be made about the winger after lifting the cup:

“From now on is when we sit down with the club and decide about next year. Jadon Sancho, if we finished fourth, it’s because of Jadon, if we won tonight it’s because of Jadon. It’s also because of Robert Sanchez — during the season, everyone is up and down a little bit, that’s part of the game.”

But Chelsea’s move for Sancho was dulled by doubts over the English winger’s inconsistency and his massive wage request of about £300,000 per week. The Blues are now pursuing other targets for Sancho’s role, one of whom is said to be a £50 million Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.

Sancho returns to Manchester United, but Red Devils’ boss Ruben Amorim does not want the winger for next season, reportedly. United would be delighted to sell the winger, who may have his eyes on a return to Dortmund, where he had flourished.

Chelsea bid for Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens with £50m offer

Chelsea are having serious discussions to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens on a £50m transfer with the view of getting him before the Club World Cup starts. The 20-year-old was impeccable last season as he netted 12 goals and provided five assists from 48 games across all competitions.

Gittens’ potential move to the Bridge comes into the Blues’ grand plan to recharge their attack. The club have also agreed on a £30 million deal to buy striker Liam Delap. They will need to sell some players, such as Noni Madueke, so they can create room for this new signing.
