Ben Jacobs shares what he’s now hearing about Everton and Richarlison this summer

A journalist has provided the latest on what he has heard regarding a possible return to Everton for Richarlison.

Rumours around the Brazilian’s future have been circulating after falling out of favour with Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou. His lack of minutes sparked rumours that he is looking to move away from North London this summer, much to Everton’s delight.

Everton have been linked with Richarlison, who left the Toffees for Spurs in 2022. After winning the Europa League, Richarlison stated that he wants to win more trophies with Spurs, suggesting he is still happy to play for them with reduced game time.

However, the Friedkin Group want a marquee signing at Everton to take into their new stadium, so they could still go all in on Richarlison as they move into the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

With the Friedkins keen on bringing Richarlison to Everton, Ben Jacobs has shared the latest he has heard about the 28-year-old’s future at Spurs.

There is no doubt Richarlison’s return to Everton would be emotional for all involved, but it does not look like it will happen this summer.

Alan Myers doubts Everton will sign Richarlison, and now transfer journalist Jacobs has shared the same feeling about a possible move.

Speaking to the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Jacobs said: “But I’m not aware, despite rumours of anything between Everton and Richarlison, I don’t have any information that suggests that Everton are going to return to try and sign Richarlison.

“And I think if he was to depart, even though there may be a willingness to go back to Everton, but generally I think the player realizes if he’s going to leave Spurs, he’s probably going to be leaving the Premier League as well.”

Everton are prioritising a new striker this summer, and fans will be well aware of what Richarlison can offer. Unfortunately, a move seems to be out of reach for the Brazilian this time around.

Richarlison’s statistics compared to Everton strikers

It comes as no surprise that Moyes wants improvements to his attacking options this summer, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract expiring and Beto’s future looking unclear.

Everton are linked with Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, who put up an impressive 12 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances this season and have also kept tabs on players like Tammy Abraham and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Striker is just one of four positions Moyes wants to improve at Everton as he prepares for several departures to make way for the new guard of talent coming through the door.

Everton fans want young talent to join the club rather than older players who will be on high wages. That could prove to be a problem if they were to sign Richarlison, who will no doubt ask for a hefty salary to rejoin the club.
