Manchester City are in the market for midfielders this summer.
The middle of the park is set to be at the forefront of Pep Guardiola’s rebuild at the Etihad Stadium, with Man City closing in on AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders for the number eight role in their team.
When it comes to replacing Kevin De Bruyne in Manchester, Man City are working on a deal for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White an alternative should the deal for the Frenchman go wrong.
City are said to be turned off by the Englishman’s £100m price tag; therefore, should both fail, Guardiola may turn his attention to a £60m Premier League star wanted by Tottenham.

Man City could easily sign Eberechi Eze over Tottenham
Man City have been linked to Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze for some time now, and those links emerged again ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, the Manchester club are unlikely to make a move for the midfielder ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, which leaves Tottenham as the favourites to land the 26-year-old; however, transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has admitted that City could easily hijack the move if they wanted to.

“But the Eze one as well though, but even hearing you then, it’s like one of those transfers that I think every Spurs, it’s like Leandro Damião all over again,” Jacobs told the Last Word on Spurs Podcast.
“But it’s one of those as well that if Man City come in and say, actually, he’d make a good squad player for us, it’s just dead in the water for Spurs. And that’s just part of the pecking order of football.”
Eze would be a great addition to Guardiola’s squad should City decide to pursue their interest, as the Englishman is coming off the back of an exceptional season, in which he scored 14 goals and assisted a further 11 across 43 games, which included the winner in the FA Cup final.
One Man City star who would be delighted to see the Crystal Palace star arrive at the Etihad is Erling Haaland, as the Norwegian has already admitted that he is a fan of the English midfielder.

Erling Haaland is a big fan of Eberechi Eze
It is believed that Eze can be signed for £60m this summer, as that is the release clause in the 26-year-old’s Crystal Palace contract, which is an option many clubs are looking at.
Ahead of the 2025 FA Cup final last month, Haaland was full of praise for Eze, with the Man City striker labelling the Eagles midfielder as an “amazing” player before he went on to score the winner against his team at Wembley.
“They are a solid team and a difficult one to play against with good individual quality. They have lots of good players, so it’s going to be a difficult game,” the Norwegian superstar said. “Eze is an amazing player, and I really like him. I like the centre-backs as well, their defence is really good.”
It remains to be seen what shirt Eze will be wearing when the 2025/26 campaign gets underway in August, but Man City now know that if they want the 26-year-old, they have a very good chance of landing the midfielder.
