The Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with two major situations heading towards the 2025 NFL season. Aaron Rodgers is one of those situations, while the contract talks with superstar pass rusher T.J. Watt are the other.
Watt has been one of the best defensive players in the NFL for years. He is worthy of receiving a major pay raise, but the two sides are not moving quickly when it comes to agreeing on a number.
Despite all of the rumors surrounding Watt, there is a new update that provides more details about where they're current at in discussions.
Mark Kaboly has previously reported that the Steelers have made a "pretty substantial offer" to Watt. However, he is looking for more than what they've offered.

According to a report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, the two sides are discussing a contract that is expected to get done before the 2025 NFL season gets underway. While that is good news, the deal may not come easy.
"In all likelihood, the Steelers will come to some agreement with Watt, their all-time sack leader," he wrote. "But it might not be that easy."
Dulac noted that two things this offseason may have made coming to an agreement more difficult and expensive.
Myles Garrett receiving a four-year, $160 million contract extension from the Cleveland Browns was one of those things. After that, Pittsburgh made a trade to land star wide receiver DK Metcalf and gave him a five-year, $150 million deal with $60 million guaranteed, the biggest contract the franchise has ever given a player.
Watt deserves to be compensated like the face of the franchise he has become for the Steelers.

Last season, Watt played in 17 games. He racked up 61 tackles, 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes. In his 121 career games, all in Pittsburgh, he has totaled 462 tackles, 108 sacks, 33 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, and 50 defended passes.
Expect to see the two parties work out a new deal at some point in the near future. Watt is going to get paid and he will get the pay raise he badly deserves.
There may be some obstacles to leap over, but the Steelers and Watt seem to be headed toward some kind of an agreement.
