Enzo Maresca will be looking to build a much stronger team around Cole Palmer at Chelsea next season.
Chelsea are set to sign Liam Delap, an English striker who they’ll hope to see combining with Cole Palmer for club and country over the next few years.
In order to start challenging for the Premier League, Maresca’s side do need key upgrades in several areas, even if solid foundations are in place.
And in terms of improving their attack next season, it’s now been revealed that Chelsea won’t be signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United this summer.
Sancho’s season-long loan to Stamford Bridge included an option-to-buy, but the Blues will instead pay a significant fee to decline that pleasure.
Cole Palmer might be disappointed by Chelsea’s Jadon Sancho snub
That being said, Palmer might be very frustrated with Chelsea’s decision to pass on signing Sancho this summer.
In terms of the 25-year-old’s contributions last season, he played 42 games under Maresca in all competitions.
And in those matches, Sancho provided 10 assists and scored five goals, including a brilliant strike against Real Betis in Europa Conference League final.
However, that curling effort wasn’t enough to change Chelsea’s mind, who will be sending the former Borussia Dortmund player back to Old Trafford.

In terms of Palmer’s disappointment, the midfielder recently named Sancho as one of his best mates at Chelsea, a player he presumably enjoyed playing alongside.
Chelsea uploaded a YouTube Short asking Palmer quick-fire questions, including one about his best mates at the club.
Palmer named Levi Colwill, Noni Madueke, Sancho and Marcus Bettinelli, saying he was close to a lot of the club’s English players.
Chelsea should target Mohammed Kudus instead of Jadon Sancho
In terms of who Chelsea should look at instead of Sancho this summer, West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus could be an excellent option.
TBR Football understands that Chelsea have looked at Kudus, and the Blues could be willing to sanction something of a swap deal.
West Ham are interested in Trevoh Chalobah alongside two other Chelsea players.
And there might be a willingness on Chelsea’s part to look at a deal for Kudus whilst including players of their own.
There are clearly a lot of options on the market for Maresca’s side this summer, and whilst one or two at the club might be disappointed with the decision not to sign Sancho, it potentially opens the door for an even better winger to come in.
