Jadon Sancho returns to Manchester United as Chelsea has decided to pay the £5m instead of accepting his contractual demands. Sancho joined Chelsea from United last summer in a season-long loan after a fallout with former manager Erik ten Hag.
Current United boss Ruben Amorim has already decided that all of the players on loan last season are surplus now. The Red Devils are facing a financial problem and need to sell players before backing the new Portuguese manager properly.
United finished 16th in the Premier League table, while Sancho helped Chelsea secure the Champions League, finishing in fourth position. Furthermore, the Red Devils lost the Europa League final to 17th-position Tottenham Hotspur, furthering their pain during the disastrous season.

The senior team’s failure to gel with the tactical demands of Amorim played a big role in their continuous struggle. United are set to splash more than £120m after completing Matheus Cunha’s deal and are currently finalising Bryan Mbeumo’s signing.
With two attackers already taking away a huge chunk of their transfer budget, United cannot delay their sales any further. Many different positions in the squad still require their attention, while keeping an eye on Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.
According to The Athletic, Sancho has decided to leave Chelsea to return to United, as the London club pays a £5 million penalty for the attacker. The 25-year-old made 42 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.
If Chelsea had signed Sancho, United would have received a payment up to £25 million, along with negating his wages. Minimising wage expenses is also one of the main goals for United, as many underperforming and unwanted players are on big salaries.
