CM: Milan study two replacements as Chelsea prepare Maignan pursuit – the targets

With Mike Maignan being targeted by Chelsea, AC Milan need to find an apt replacement incase the Frenchman leaves.

It seems like it will be a summer of stars leaving for Milan, with Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez both being courted with high-value moves. However, they are not the only players who could depart. Added to that list could be Maignan, who has been a target for Europe’s elite for a few years now.

With his current contract not being extended yet, the chances of a departure are only increasing as the 2026 deadline looms. This week, Chelsea have begun to make the progress required to bring him to the club, in the knowledge of these issues.

So, the Rossoneri need to begin their own evaluations for a potential replacement. For Calciomercato.com, Daniele Longo reports that two names are being highlighted more than anyone else at Casa Milan; those are believed to be Marco Carnesecchi and Mile Svilar.

The Serie A duo are both liked after having great seasons for their respective clubs, Atalanta and Roma. However, it seems a move for the latter may be easier, due to his contract situation. Svilar’s deal expires in 2027, and there are believed to be difficulties with reaching an agreement to extend.

Failing to land either of the two, the Diavolo would also consider moves for Bart Verbruggen and Lucas Chevalier.
