Pittsburgh Steelers to host big-bodied wide receiver for visit

The [Pittsburgh Steelers](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/) are hosting former Bills and Jaguars wide receiver [Gabe Davis](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/2025/05/new-wide-receiver-emerges-for-steelers-on-market-after-george-pickens-trade.html) for a visit on Wednesdaay, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Davis already visited the New York Giants previously, but never signed with them. The Jaguars cut Davis after just one season of his big deal with them..

With a new regime in Jacksonville under the direction of general manager James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen, they decided to move on from Davis, re-tooling their wide receiver room around Brian Thomas Jr.

In just ten games in 2024, Davis caught 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns. That was enough for the Jaguars to cut him just one year into a three-year, $39 million deal.

His 2024 was far better, amassing 746 yards in 17 games on 46 receptions. His career year came in 2023, when Davis posted 836 yards and seven touchdowns on 48 receptions.

He torched the Steelers as a downfield threat in the Buffalo Bills’ offense before with Josh Allen, including a 98-yard touchdown.

He would fit the Steelers’ downfield, explosive passing attack identity. However, Davis has struggled to stay healthy and his production has steadily fallen off sharply.

Pittsburgh could consider him a fit, though, especially because his blocking attitude fits what they like at the position. A fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of UCF, Davis is free to sign anywhere, and will be unlikely to command an expensive offer.
