Borussia Dortmund are set to beat Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to a transfer coup.

Sunderland hotshot Jobe Bellingham is believed to be in ‘advanced talks’ with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund over a summer switch, which comes as a blow to Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Bellingham has long been tipped to make the step up to the top flight, linked with a move to Crystal Palace last summer, and has achieved that himself with Sunderland. However, it appears that the midfielder’s future may not be in the Premier League after all.

Borussia Dortmund in ‘advanced talks’ with Sunderland man Jobe Bellingham

On Tuesday, Sky Sports confirmed that Sunderland are in ‘advanced talks’ with Dortmund over the sale of Bellingham. The outlet said: “He is committed to joining Dortmund after receiving interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig.

“The 19-year-old has a release clause of around £33.7 million but Bellingham is understood to have a gentleman’s agreement with Sunderland to allow him to leave for less if a big club comes in. The newly promoted Premier League club could sell for around £25 million.”

That will see Bellingham follow in the footsteps of his older brother. Jude Bellingham moved from Birmingham City to Dortmund in 2020 for £25 million, making him the most expensive 17-year-old in history at the time. The midfielder spent three years with the club before joining Real Madrid for a huge £114 million in 2023. Jude is also a former Birmingham City man, making the switch to Sunderland for an undisclosed fee in 2023.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs all credited with Bellingham interest

Several Premier League clubs have been linked with Bellingham since January and TeamTalk carried reports of continued interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Manchester United, last month. Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim was reported to have personally asked the club to prioritise a move for the Sunderland man.

However, it is Germany that has emerged as the preferred destination for Bellingham, despite achieving Premier League promotion with Sunderland. The Bellingham brothers are known for their close bond and the Black Cats man appears to be taking inspiration from the Real Madrid megastar.

Speaking about Jobe last summer while away with the England set-up, Jude said: “I think my brother [is my biggest fan] yeah I think I’m his and he’s mine so I think it’s that simple really.

“Before every game I always have a message from him, and every game he plays I always make sure I message him. We couldn’t be closer really. He has a really good mentality, thinks like me, he’s a really good young player um so I get a lot from him as well you know.”

In other news, Arsenal now "in talks" to sign "always dangerous" star alongside Benjamin Sesko who has 53 Premier League G/A.
