Everton ‘very insistent’ for player in last few days – Crystal Palace also making significant progress

Everton have been ‘very insistent’ about a deal for Burnley defender Maxime Estève in the last few days, but face competition from Burnley.

That’s [according to L’Equipe,](https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Mercato-crystal-palace-espere-recruter-le-defenseur-de-burnley-maxime-esteve/1567278) who report that the defender could leave Burnley despite their promotion to the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have reportedly made significant progress in talks for the defender, but they are now alone in their endeavours. The 23-year-old finds himself on the list of several clubs this summer.

Crystal Palace consider him their defensive priority, but Everton have been very insistent in the last few days. The Toffees have been credited with an interest since May last year.

To a less extent, Bayern Munich have also expressed interest. Vincent Kompany worked with the player during the second half of the season at Burnley in 2023/24. He’s spoken with the defender directly, with it possible that Kim Min-jae will depart this summer.

It appears, though, that they are less serious than Everton or Crystal Palace at this moment in time. At least in France, they believe it’s now a direct competition between the two Premier League sides for the Burnley centre-back.
