Crystal Palace make significant progress in Burnley star pursuit

Burnley star Maxime Esteve has been made a priority defensive target by Crystal Palace, according to L’Equipe.

Burnley are heading for the Premier League and will have ambitions of making this stay longer than the last.

Scott Parker led the Clarets straight back from the Championship at the first time of asking and is now tasked with keeping them there, though recent seasons have proven that is far easier said than done.

Unfortunately for the Turf Moor outfit, there is a chance they lose some key players despite making the step back up to the Premier League, and among them is Maxime Esteve.

The defender has been regularly linked with a move away over the past year and now, French outlet L’Equipe reports Crystal Palace and Everton are making strong pushes to sign the Burnley star.

In fact, Palace are said to have made ‘significant progress’ in their bid having made Esteve their top defensive target. As for the Toffees, they have become ‘very insistent’ over recent days.

Bayern Munich and former Clarets boss Vincent Kompany have expressed an interest and spoke directly to Esteve, though their interest is not as strong as that of the Premier League pair.
