NFL experts believe Cowboys will surpass expected win total in 2025

The Dallas Cowboys will kick off the 2025 season on the road against the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a tough start to the year for Dallas and the schedule doesn’t really lighten up at any point.

But for the first time in nearly a decade, oddsmakers don’t think the Cowboys will be a playoff team going into the year, with most sportsbooks projecting a losing season for Dallas. The Cowboys opened with a win total set at 7.5 wins, but that has slightly moved after the acquisition of George Pickens. However, they are still expected to miss the playoffs with two NFC East teams having better postseason odds than Dallas.

In the most recent [Stacking The Box Podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qdfb-LU06hg), Marcus Mosher and Tommy Jaggi took a look at the current win totals for every NFC team heading into the 2025 season. Here is the link to the YouTube channel where you can watch the debate and discussion for the NFC Conference, including their thoughts on the Brian Schottenheimer-led brigade.

The Cowboys have a current projected win total of 8.5, but both Marcus and Tommy believe they will go over that total this season because of the improved weapons and young offensive line.

However, the NFC East and the conference as a whole look to be as strong as ever, which could be an issue for Dallas as they look to get back to the postseason [after a 7-10 season under Mike McCarthy](https://thelandryhat.com/cowboys-waste-no-time-undoing-mike-mccarthy-biggest-ota-blunder-tyler-booker-brian-schottenheimer).
