Washington Legends, coaches nominated for Cfb Hall of Fame 2026 class

Multiple Washington Commanders Legends and current coaches were nominated for the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

The list of 79 nominees, which was announced by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame on June 2, includes former Washington tight end Vernon Davis; quarterback Robert Griffin III; wide receiver DeSean Jackson; defensive end and current assistant linebackers coach/pass-rush specialist Ryan Kerrigan; wide receiver Antwaan Randle-El; and current linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr.

Davis, who played for the University of Maryland, was a First Team All-American for the Terps and led the ACC in receiving (72.9 yards per game) and had the second-most single-season receiving yards by a tight end in 2005. He went on to have a 14-year NFL career, including four with Washington, and was selected to two Pro Bowls. He also won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos in 2015.

Griffin won the Heisman Trophy in 2011 for having one of the best seasons for a quarterback in Baylor history. He completed 72.4% of his passes for 4,293 yards with 37 touchdowns and six interceptions while also rushing for 699 yards and 10 scores. In addition to his Heisman Trophy selection, he was named a consensus All-American and received the Manning Award as well as the Davey O'Brien Award. _The Associated Press_ also named Griffin their College Football Player of the Year.

Jackson, a two-time First Team All-American return specialist and receiver for California, won the Randy Moss Award for being the best college returner in the country. In 2006, Jackson returned 25 punt returns for 455 yards and four touchdowns, which led the FBS that year. His 18.2 yards per return average also led his conference.

Kerrigan had a standout season for Purdue in 2010 by leading the country in tackles for loss (26), tying an NCAA single-season record with 14 forced fumbles and leading the Big Ten with 12.5 sacks. Kerrigan, who also led the Big Ten in sacks in 2009, is tied for second in program history with 33.5 sacks in his career. Kerrigan played in the NFL for 11 seasons, 10 of which were with Washington, and is the all-time official sack leader for the Commanders.

Randle-El played four seasons at Indiana and was one of the best players in the program's history. He became the first player in FBS history to pass for at least 6,000 yards and rush for at least 3,000 yards. He accounted for 86 touchdowns in his career and ranks second in career passing, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns for the school. Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Randle-El joined Washington in 2006 and made 186 receptions for 2,202 yards with eight touchdowns in that span.

Norton played for UCLA from 1984-87 and helped the program claim four consecutive bowl wins. He led the Bruins in tackles in 1986 and 1987, which helped him rank sixth all-time in program history with 339 stops. He ended his college career by being named a First Team All-American and a finalist for the Butkus Award.

The NFF and College Football Hall of Fame will announce the official 2026 class early next year.
