Christopher Nkunku is looking to leave Chelsea in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Nkunku has been unhappy at Chelsea due to his lack of game time in recent months, and there have been a fair few stories around the Frenchman’s future.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Nkunku as of late, but, as with many transfer rumours that do the rounds at this time of year, you can’t believe everything you hear.
Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Nkunku’s future after the attacker was linked with Tottenham.
Jacobs says that Spurs are indeed interested in Nkunku, but the reports surrounding Liverpool are said to be wide of the mark.

Liverpool not in for Christopher Nkunku
Jacobs shared his information on Nkunku’s future as he looks for a move away from Chelsea.
According to the journalist, Liverpool and Newcastle aren’t keen on Nkunku, but Tottenham and Bayern Munich could be in the mix.
“Because if you look at what Nkunku did prior to joining Chelsea, there’s a real player in there. He’s versatile, he can play in more than one position, he’s clinical, he’s physical, he can use his head, he can be intricate on the edge of the area, he can get out into wide areas,” Jacobs said.
“So I don’t think this is the case of him flopping at Chelsea at all, because when he got given opportunities in the Europa League, he was scoring goals, in the Europa Conference League I should say.
“It’s more just that he’s not first for behind the striker, and he’s not first for the striker, so he’s finding himself as a squad player, another team he might really be able to thrive. Tottenham are interested, reports that they’ll be rivalled by Liverpool and Newcastle are not true to my understanding.
“And then we have to wait and see whether Bayern return, because I can tell you if Bayern had agreed a fee with Chelsea for Nkunku in January, then Nkunku would have said yes.”
Liverpool’s signings with Red Bull links
Liverpool aren’t in for Nkunku, but it would make a lot of sense if the Reds were keen on the Frenchman.
Indeed, Nkunku, of course, made his name for RB Leipzig, and Liverpool have a real knack of signing players with links to the Red Bull stable.
Liverpool’s signings with Red Bull links Fee Signed from
Dominik Szoboszlai £60m RB Leipzig
Ibrahima Konate £36m RB Leipzig
Naby Keita £53m RB Leipzig
Takumi Minamino £7m RB Salzburg
Sadio Mane £35m Southampton*
*Previously played for RB Salzburg
Liverpool’s style of play translates very well for players who have played for a Red Bull side, and it’s no coincidence that Jurgen Klopp has now taken on a role with this group.
A lot of these signings have worked very well. Ibrahima Konate has become a star, while Dominik Szoboszlai is an important player.
In contrast, Naby Keita was a flop, so this isn’t a guaranteed route to transfer success.
Nkunku would be a logical addition for a team like Liverpool given their liking for players with Red Bull links, but, by the sounds of things, the Reds aren’t actually keen on the Chelsea star.
