Arsenal player to have medical on Friday to seal his Gunners exit

Jorginho is set to undergo a medical at Flamengo on Friday ahead of sealing his departure from Arsenal.

That’s according to GE Globo, who report that Jorginho will arrive in Rio de Janeiro in the early hours of Friday before undergoing a medical. After that’s completed, he will sign a three-year deal with the Brazilian club.

He already reached an agreement with them a few weeks ago and has spent the last few days resolving an impasse over a bonus for June. That’s the last month of his contract with Arsenal.

The midfielder wants to play in the Club World Cup but to do so has to terminate his contract with Arsenal and give up £500,000 in the process. That’s the final block before he can sign with Flamengo.

The Brazilian side are committing to a large investment to sign the midfielder. Between salaries and bonuses, he will cost them around €23m.

The list for the Club World Cup has to be finalised by June 10th so the deal and agreement with Arsenal needs to be concluded by that point. The current plan is for him to return from Italy, where he is spending time after getting married last Tuesday, before returning to London and then heading to Brazil in the early hours on Friday before sealing his Arsenal exit later that day.
