Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Bobby Babich talks draft, second year calling plays

Quick hitters from Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Bobby Babich's first media session of the offseason program:

On the Bills using their first draft picks on defensive players:

Babich: “Anytime you add talent that you identify in the way you believe can help you, it’s exciting. (General manager) Brandon (Beane), (coach) Sean (McDermott) – everybody did a great job with our evaluations and making sure we were aligned on the same page. Obviously, we’re going to take the best player available, but also, try to address a need here and there if it matches up correctly. Excited.”

On the return of cornerback Tre’Davious White:

Babich: “It’s great to be around Tre’Davious again. His energy is infectious. His work ethic is second to none and right now, what you’re seeing is Tre’Davious working himself back into the Bills system and some things have changed here and there so he’s still adapting to what we’ve changed.”

On being in his second year as coordinator:

Babich: “I know I sat here last year and said you think you’re ready and you’re never ready until you go through something. There were a couple of things. First off, it’s trusting my gut and trusting the preparation that goes into it.”

On second-year safety Cole Bishop:

Babich: “It’s just the comfort level in what we’re doing. It’s the more reps he gets of one call, you just see him taking more control and you go back to it, he didn’t play in training camp (hamstring injury) and those were valuable reps missed out. For a guy who didn’t have training camp and do some of the things he did was good.”
