As Dak Prescott has now suffered two significant injuries in his NFL career, he's done the only thing that he knows how to do: get back stronger.
Prescott suffered a gruesome season-ending ankle injury in 2020 and came back the following season to lead the Dallas Cowboys to another NFC East title. Even though a hamstring injury prematurely ended his 2024 season, Prescott has a history of coming back even stronger from big injuries. He's already proven that after one OTA practice.
Jeff Kerr from CBS Sports had several storylines for the NFC East this season, such as the Giants' confusing QB situation, the Eagles' chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions, and Prescott possibly being "washed".
Dak Prescott hate is spreading like wildfire after Cowboys' poor 2024 season
"The Cowboys could not have Prescott throw 35.8 attempts per game and balance the offense, but the running back position isn't anything to write home about. Prescott will have to carry the offense again, and has the pass catchers to execute the task ... This season will be a massive one for Prescott, who should have a few good years of football left in him. But another significant injury could again raise the question if his best days are behind him. "
Jeff Kerr from CBS Sports
It almost feels like Kerr is still living in 2024 with Rico Dowdle as the only semi-consistent running back the team is. The truth is, even though there are major questions on the featured backs this upcoming season, this is a great problem with Dallas having a much deeper RB room than last season.
It felt like just not long ago whenever Prescott was checked in laughably low in Pro Football Focus' quarterback rankings. QBs who haven't won a single playoff game ranked higher than Prescott. The playoff record is not great, but he's performed better than his record and that doesn't take away from his talent and what he's brought to the franchise since 2016.
Prescott is one of the most grizzled vets in the NFL at the quarterback position. He actually the longest-tenured QB from his original drafted team.
The disrespect he's getting will continue because he plays for the Cowboys, but history has proven Prescott can - and will - silence the doubters once September rolls around.
