West Ham need to strengthen their attacking ranks as a matter of urgency, and have already made moves over one key target.
The Hammers endured a woeful season as they finished 14th in the Premier League, and a key factor behind their failures was their lack of a consistent number nine.
West Ham spent heavily last summer, and attacking players such as Niclas Fullkrug arrived, but they now need younger blood upfront as they aim to rebuild their squad.
Graham Potter is targeting fresh faces in attacking positions, and Ligue 1 sensation Lucas Stassin could now follow Daniel Cummings through the door this summer.

West Ham make concrete move for Stassin
Stassin has been highly impressive in the French top flight and is attracting interest from several clubs, including Champions League side Marseille.

However, it now appears that the 20-year-old could be heading to West Ham this summer, with the Irons keen on tying up a deal for the Saint Etienne striker.

French outlet L’Equipe (3 June) has now reported that despite interest from Wolves, Leipzig, Lille, Rennes, Paris FC, Sporting CP and Marseille, it is West Ham who are leading the race to sign Stassin this summer, having already discussed personal terms with him.
The Belgian has scored 12 goals in just 23 Ligue 1 starts this season, and may be seen as an attacker who can make both a short and long-term impact at the London Stadium.

West Ham need to sign several attacking players
While it would be a coup for West Ham to land Stassin, this cannot be their only attacking signing this summer as they need a lot of new recruits in the squad.
Mohammed Kudus appears likely to depart, while Michail Antonio is still ruled out for the foreseeable future.
Evan Ferguson’s loan will not be extended, and Fullkrug has failed to show that he can be relied upon this season.
With this in mind, another striker or winger could be necessary on top of Stassin, who may not yet be ready to be a starter, but can certainly play a huge part as a squad player initially as he adapts to English football.
